2,500m² of polished flooring, delivered against a demanding retail programme

In the heart of Oxford Street, Avantgarde Tiling and Screed Works joined forces to deliver the flooring for ZARA at 333 Oxford Street, bringing together complementary expertise across approximately 2,500m² of retail space.

Screed Works delivered the floor installation, with Avantgarde taking the surface through the grinding and polishing process. As concrete floor grinding and polishing specialists, our role was to build on the quality of the installation and achieve a consistent polished finish across the entire space.

With 2,500m² to complete and a particularly tight retail programme, there was little room for delay. Close coordination between both teams meant that areas could be progressively handed over, allowing our grinding and polishing works to follow closely behind the installation and keeping the programme moving.

Beyond the floor

The works extended beyond the main floor area. To create a consistent finish throughout the space, Avantgarde also cast and polished approximately 800 linear metres of bespoke skirting off-site.

Each skirting piece was manufactured and finished in our workshop before being delivered to site ready for installation.

Producing the skirtings off-site allowed the casting and polishing process to continue independently from the site programme, while giving our team greater control over the finish and consistency of each piece.

From installation to final polish

As each area became ready, our team moved through the different stages of grinding and polishing, gradually refining the surface and revealing the character of the finished floor.

Across an area of this scale, consistency was key. Each section needed to flow seamlessly into the next, while progress had to remain closely aligned with the wider construction and fit-out programme.

It was a large floor, with little time to spare.

Careful planning, experienced operatives and the right machinery allowed us to maintain momentum throughout the project, progressing efficiently across the 2,500m² while keeping the quality and consistency of the final finish at the centre of the work.
