At the iconic BBC Television Centre, Avantgarde Tiling delivered a range of high-end tiling, terrazzo and polished concrete installations as part of the transformation of the historic broadcasting complex into luxury residential apartments.

Working within the building’s distinctive circular architecture presented significant technical challenges, particularly in achieving seamless floor finishes while maintaining tight tolerances throughout the project. To overcome this, our team utilised a specially formulated low-shrinkage cement system with rapid drying properties, allowing the installation of large seamless terrazzo polished floors with minimal movement joints. The bespoke terrazzo finish combined cool white cement tones with marble aggregates, elegantly framed with curved brass trims to complement the architectural design of the apartments. Within the living spaces, bespoke porcelain installations were carefully integrated to enhance the contemporary interiors. A standout feature included a black thin porcelain fireplace surround with see-through glazing, creating a modern focal point within the main reception area.

Across the development, the lift lobbies were finished with resin-based Carrara terrazzo tiles in a 600x600 format, complemented by matching terrazzo skirtings to create continuity throughout the circulation spaces.

Avantgarde Tiling also delivered a variety of specialist flooring installations across multiple apartments, including:

• 3mm polished concrete flooring systems
• 10mm concrete floor finishes
• Bespoke natural stone bathroom installations

The master bathrooms within two apartments were individually designed using premium natural stone materials, including Arabescato marble and Travertine tiles, demonstrating our expertise across luxury stone installation and bespoke residential finishes. Every element of the project was completed with meticulous attention to detail, including custom-cut shower trays, precision mitred edges, curved interfaces and seamless transitions between materials.
