Hi , I’m Marius.

Marius Toma

As the Design Manager at Avantgarde Tiling, I lead the design team with a focus on the practical execution of our projects. My role involves extensive coordination with various stakeholders, ensuring that designs are produced on time and meet high-quality standards while remaining clear and comprehensive. I actively engage with clients throughout the design process, aiming to meet their expectations and aligning design with their vision and budget. I oversee the entire design process, from concepts to technical design, to handover of design deliverables, whilst all along reviewing design against industry standards and HSE regulations. Part of my responsibilities includes monitoring design work against agreed programmes and as such ensuring that design information is available and accessible at the right time by relevant stakeholders inclusive of design team and fabrication/construction teams. I am passionate by reducing waste in all it’s forms, both in the design process and construction process, and as such I strive to employ proven practices that can minimize waste throughout the construction lifeline.

In my personal life, I'm driven by a love for outdoor activities and adventure. Cycling is a major passion, giving me a sense of freedom and space while exploring natural landscapes. When I'm not on my bike, you can find me camping, enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the wilderness. Rock music is another key interest, providing a soundtrack to my life with its raw energy and powerful melodies, live concerts being a favourite way to experience this passion. Additionally, I'm fascinated by mechanical engineering with a special passion towards aviation and the exciting challenges and opportunities of flying.

My educational journey began at A. Barseanu National Economic College in Romania (1996-1999), followed by studies at G. Baritiu University, Romania (1999- 2002). Furthering my education in the UK, I atended Scheidegger/Skill Train College (2004-2007), where I earned my System Engineer (A+) and Network Engineer (N+) qualifications.

I continued to expand my skill set with an NVQ level 2 in Wall and Floor Tiling (2009), CITB Site Manager Safety Training Scheme (2010), training in Pandomo System for Polished Concrete/Ardex (2013), and Project Management Professional (PMP) Training (2014).

A key highlight was beginning my role in design management in 2010, and subsequently completing a Master with Distinction in Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Digital Built Environments at the University of Salford. This blend of practical experience and academic achievements has been foundational in my design management career.
